Privacy Policy

Last updated: 17 May 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Aakash Verma, operating as BackCourtPlayer (ABN: 25 448 126 206) ('we', 'us', 'our'), collects, uses, and shares your personal information when you use the BackCourtPlayer mobile application (the 'App').

1. Introduction

We operate BackCourtPlayer, a mobile application designed to help users organise recurring badminton doubles social events, primarily for users in Australia. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect about you, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have in relation to that information.

We are committed to handling your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal information:

Account information: When you create an account, we collect information such as your name, email address, phone number, and profile photo (if you choose to provide one). If you sign in using Apple Sign In or Google Sign In, we receive basic profile information from those services. If you sign in using phone OTP, we collect your phone number for verification purposes.

Profile and user-generated content: We collect information you choose to provide in your member profile, as well as content you create within the App, including event details, social descriptions, posts, and other contributions.

Usage data: We collect information about how you interact with the App, including the features you use, events you create or join, the frequency and duration of your sessions, and other engagement data.

Device and technical information: We collect information about the device you use to access the App, including device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, language settings, and network information.

Crash logs and diagnostics: If the App crashes or experiences errors, we collect diagnostic information through Firebase Crashlytics to help us identify and fix issues.

Payment information: If you subscribe to the paid Organiser tier, payment is processed by Apple (via the App Store) or Google (via Google Play) using their respective in-app purchase systems. We do not collect or store your credit card or banking details. We receive limited information from RevenueCat about your subscription status (such as whether your subscription is active, the tier, and renewal dates) so that we can deliver the features you have paid for.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information for the following purposes:

To provide and operate the App, including creating and managing your account, displaying events and member profiles, and enabling you to organise and join badminton events. To process and manage subscriptions for the Organiser tier. To communicate with you about your account, the App, important service updates, and support requests. To improve the App, including analysing usage trends, diagnosing technical issues, and developing new features. To ensure the safety and integrity of the App, including detecting and preventing fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service. To comply with our legal obligations under Australian law.

4. Third-Party Services and Data Flows

We rely on the following third-party service providers to operate the App:

Firebase (Google LLC): We use Firebase for backend infrastructure, database services, authentication, crash reporting (Firebase Crashlytics), and usage analytics (Firebase Analytics).

Apple Sign In: If you choose to sign in with your Apple ID, Apple provides us with limited profile information.

Google Sign In: If you choose to sign in with your Google account, Google provides us with limited profile information.

RevenueCat: We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Because Firebase is operated by Google and RevenueCat operates globally, your personal information may be processed and stored on servers located outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries where these providers operate data centres. Where we transfer your information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure that the recipient handles your information in a manner consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles, including by relying on contractual protections and the privacy frameworks adopted by these providers.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active, and for a period of 30 days after you delete your account, after which we will delete or de-identify your personal information. We may retain certain information for longer periods where required by law, such as for tax, accounting, or legal compliance purposes, or where reasonably necessary to resolve disputes or enforce our agreements.

Crash logs and aggregated, de-identified analytics data may be retained for longer periods to help us maintain and improve the App.

6. Your Rights Under the Australian Privacy Principles

Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you. Correct any personal information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, or misleading. Complain about how we have handled your personal information.

To exercise these rights, please contact us using the details in the 'How to Contact Us' section below. We will respond to your request within a reasonable time, typically within 30 days. There is no fee for making a request, although in limited circumstances we may charge a reasonable fee to cover the cost of providing access to a large volume of information.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 16 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you are under 16, please do not use the App or provide any personal information to us. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a person under 16 without verified parental or guardian consent, we will take steps to delete that information.

8. Complaints to the OAIC

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your personal information or your complaint, you have the right to make a complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC). You can find more information about how to make a complaint, and contact the OAIC, at www.oaic.gov.au.
